Grace Church School actively encourages a diverse education community. We welcome boys and girls of all faiths, races and ethnic backgrounds. Financial aid applications are available upon request.
The primary point of entry to the preschool is the Twos program. Children must be two by July 31 of their entering year. Parents interested in the Twos are invited to meet the director and tour the school in the fall of the year preceding anticipated enrollment (see directions to the school). Tours are held at 9:15 a.m. from early October through mid December. Tour appointments can be scheduled by calling the school at (718) 624-4030 beginning the second week of September. Tours will be filled on a first come basis, and tend to fill quickly.
Applications are available after the tour. The application and a non-refundable application fee of $75 are due no later than December 15 for regular applicants. The deadline for special consideration applicants is November 14. When you call to schedule a tour, please tell us if you are requesting special consideration.
In January, children and parents are invited to visit the school in small groups for an informal meeting with the director. Letters of acceptance and wait list letters are mailed the first week of March.
We generally have a very limited number of spaces for our Threes, Fours and Kindergarten classes. Parents should call the school to request an application. The requests are grouped according to the age and gender of the children. Names are randomly pulled from each age/gender group and these families will receive applications. The number of applications sent out depends on the number of openings we anticipate for the coming year.
For all applicants: When we reach the point when all interview group spaces have been filled, we will stop accepting applications, even if it is before the stated deadline.
The Together Time program is for toddlers who will be 16 – 25 months by September 1st. A parent or caregiver is expected to attend the program with the child. Information is available by calling the school at (718) 624-4030. If you wish to tour the school and will be applying to this program, please let us know when making your tour appointment. There is a separate application process for Together Time.
Music Time is offered on Wednesday afternoons in the fall and again in the spring for toddlers who are 12 – 24 months old when the program begins. A parent or caregiver is expected to attend with the child. Each class includes musical activities and stories to encourage children to wiggle, rock, stretch, tap, shake, bounce and play along. Each group meets weekly for six to eight sessions. Please call (718) 624-4030 for information on First Time Mothers Support Group starting dates and fees.
All preschool tours begin at 9:15 and will be conducted from October 7 through December 4. Tours for families of special consideration children will be on October 14 and 30. Information sessions for the Together Time program will be held at 1:15 on November 10 and December 3.
APPLICATIONS are due no later than November 14 for special consideration applicants and no later than December 15 for regular applicants.
In order to receive special consideration, a child must meet one or more
of the following criteria:
• Sibling of children who have attended Grace Church
School for two or more years
• Child of a GCS alumni
• Child of a GCS staff member
• Child of a Grace Church Brooklyn Heights member (eligibility
for consideration as a parish member applicant is determined by the Rector)
INTERVIEWS will be conducted in January.
NOTIFICATION of acceptance will be mailed the first week of March.
